The administration of the Skiatook Police Department is the responsibility of the Chief of Police Billy Wakefield. The administration is responsible for the staffing of a twenty four hour a day, seven day a week police force and allocating manpower to ensure the safety of the public for all visitors and citizens of the City of Skiatook. The administration also maintains training for each employee ensuring that they are up to date in all aspects of their job.
Chief Billy Wakefield started his law enforcement career in 1992 with the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office where he was assigned as a detention officer, court guard and field deputy. Chief Wakefield started with the Skiatook Police Department in 1996 and was assigned to the patrol division for over 17 years. Chief Wakefield has twice received the Skiatook Police Department Life Saving Award and has been awarded the Medal of Valor by the Oklahoma Sheriff's and Peace Officers Association. Chief Wakefield is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Chief Wakefield was appointed Chief of Police for the City of Skiatook in December 2019.
